Techno Primitivism:
Issue 03

BY RACHEL JACKSON

7.25x10"
24 pages
Issue 02

Styled as a pseudoscientific journal, Techno Primitivism examines manifestations of the ancient as they are mediated through contemporary technology.

Issue 03 documents the evolution of earthworks throughout history, positioning their creation as an act of low-impact placemaking and ritual. The publication reflects upon the influence of earthworks such as Cahokia Mounds, upon the emergence of land art in the twentieth century, assessing how the once communal practice of land alteration became codified as the work of individual artists. Issue 03 concludes by reflecting on the vernacular practice of labyrinth-building as a model for moving beyond discrete authorship and testing the delineation between human intervention and the natural world.
